Staycation :)

Although we were planning on hitting up our city's parade today the 100 plus degree weather made us thing that we were better off heading up the mountains instead. We went to a mountain spring and walked around a bit (we are not hikers). Then we headed to a super fun burger place centered around trains (Mr. B was in love with the train table in the eating area). Then we headed into a different canyon to play in a gorgeous park that had a bone chillingly cold stream running through it. Mr. B played until his legs were shaking and his lips were blue. We finally headed home late that afternoon feeling like we made the right choice. Only problem now is wanting to go back there really really badly. I think we have found a new favorite park. Pardon the scenery photos but we were just incredibly excited to see something other than suburbia. Happy summer :)

June Bugs

This month has been a fun one. Although we haven't gone anywhere exciting lots of cool things have happened. Baby Hoden spent a whole week sleeping through the night (sadly that was short lived), he has also become super keen on feeding himself. Mr. B potty trained, he took to it quickly and has done awesome even if out of the house, for his efforts he earned a super cool Buzz Lightyear toy, it is pretty sweet. G. turned 26 this week and finished his degree on the same day. We are sooo proud of him and so happy that he no longer has homework and class anymore (hello getting to go to Lake Powell next year).  As for me my only exciting thing was getting my blog about cloth diapering Hoden featured on a huge cloth diapering blog. We as a family got to also take my brothers up to the MTC so exciting, when did they get so old. 

We have already been to the local water park a few times and hope to keep up going at least once a week. Mr. B will spend as much time in the water as allowed and usually gets pulled out forcibly with blue lips and goosebumps. Baby Hoden, has also taken to the water like a fish and loves playing in the water. I love my water babies. 

DIY Pail Liner/Large Wetbag

When I first started started cloth diapering I had this liner. Anyhow it was two layers and it was getting water and bubbles caught inside it which was making rinsing my diapers take forever. So I decided to make my own. 

I bought this fabric from JoAnns, I bought a ton but the amount you need is measure the height of your trash  can plus a few inches to hang over, then measure the circumference of the top of the trash can this is your fabric amount to buy so for me it was 1/2 yard). 

I decided that since the fabric is 60" across I would just fold it over and only have to sew up the two sides Depending on how much you buy you could fold over a side instead. Whatever makes it easiest for you. I hemmed to the top 3/4 inch but the amount is up to you. I sewed a straight stitch with a ball point needle and polyester thread. 

Then I sewed up the sides. You really have to hold the fabric tight together or use a walking foot because the PUL is sticky and can shift while going through your machine. 

Hurray! All done. Wasn't that so fast. I am pretty crappy at sewing and this gave me no trouble at all. 

I like the print hanging over the outside of my pail so the below picture is just so you can see it. Now you need to toss this sucker in your machine or get it sopping wet. Then throw it in the dryer to heat seal the needle holes. 

Once it is all dry you are ready to go. Pop that sucker in your pail and now you have a reusable cute and cheap pail liner. After coupons and sale at Joanns I spent 12 dollars on enough for 3 of these.
