 An "All in Two" diaper cover or system can be a lot of different things. It can be a diaper where the insert snaps on top of a one time use shell (Like Best Bottoms Grovia and Soft Bums). 

I have only personally used Best Bottoms, which I have mentioned probably too many times, they have snap in inserts. They make hemp jersey and microfiber stay dry fleece topped inserts. Easy peasy, but a but on the pricey side for me, their overnight doublers under their stay dry inserts really are a bulletproof nighttime combo. They save my bacon. I mentioned them way back here if you are interested. 

Likewise a All in two can also be a reusable cover with flaps that you can tuck in a insert, prefolds or flat. Most people have heard of the Flip system by Cottonbabies (Bum genius's maker) I would say that it is probably  the most common All in Two. They sell  inserts that lay in (I don't have any of theirs but the Best Bottom inserts work well in it), disposable inserts and you can use prefolds or flats that get folded then laid inside. Diaper Safari work the same way. (The top diaper cover in the first picture). Diaper Safari and the Blueberry Coverall work the same way.  I love them because they are so versatile you really can mix and match the covers and the inserts/prefolds etc.

Using a prefold in a All in two is super nice, unlike a normal or traditional cover like mentioned here, a Diaper Safari or Flip (I call them flap covers) they hold the prefold really well. You simply trifold as pictured below then lay them under the flaps.

You can also do the same thing with even a simple kitchen Flour Sack towel like you can get at Walmart.

In a nutshell the All in Two is probably the most versatile and economical type of cloth diapers. They are less scary then they look, I promise :)

Classic Covers

 These are the covers that first replaced the vinyl or plastic pants they are the most basic cover you can buy. Don't get me wrong thought they are still awesome. I think every stash should at least have one classic cover. They are amazing for over fitteds (super absorbent but non waterproof diapers used for nighttime or snappied prefolds/flats). As you can see, unlike the All in Two covers they don't have flaps or snaps. The left (or top) is a Rumparooz, the middle is a Thirsties Size 2 and the right (or bottom) is a Blueberry Coverall. 

 Just like with a All in Two you can lay in a padfolded flat or flour sack towel.

 But my favorite is over a snappied prefold (or fitted). Give them a try. They are cheap and easy to use.

Don't worry I am aware I take way too many picture of my children. But hey they don't live close to all their family and they won't stay this little and willing to let me photograph them :)

Okay so really its got no "bags" to hold him down (ie colostomy bags), and boy is he enjoying it, okay really its us, he is still pretty freaked out by pooping and detests getting his butt wiped because of a super painful diaper rash (that is thankfully starting to heal).  But yeah pretty much we love that he can now a) wear pants again, and b) roll around like crazy without "popping" a bag. We feel pretty blessed.

Super Pooper: Colostomy Takedown and Pull through Surgery

We checked into surgery Monday morning. Hoden went into surgery in pretty good spirits considering he hadn't eaten in twelve plus hours (a pretty big deal for a chubbers like him). The surgery ended up taking an impressive five hours. His previous surgeries had left scar tissue that made the surgery not be able to be performed lapriscopicaly as originally thought. Poor Hoden was pretty miserable after surgery you would expect. It was pretty heartbreaking. 

When Hoden started feeling better, we strung his toys from the top of the hospital crib. He was a champ playing in such a confined space. 

When the toys stopped distracting Hoden  and he needed a change of scenery we got creative. Not really, the hospital actually provided wagons for us to take him on field trips. He really appreciated getting a chance to check out the hospital ceiling tiles :)

We are so thankful for the amazing pizza Aunt M. brought us. Homemade BBQ chicken pizza with pineapple. Restaurant pizza just cannot top it, we polished off that huge pizza between the three of us in like ten minutes flat. 

Hoden's Surgery was two part they had to reverse the colostomy and take out a small portion of his intestines and then connect it to the bowel. So he had his old incision reopened and a new larger incision. He is taking it like a champ though. Holy cow I love his thigh rolls :)

Grandma S. graciously watched Mr. B while I was at the hospital with Hoden and as a special suprise Grandma B. flew in for her 50th bithday present to come see Hoden as he got discharged. We are so thankful for their help and for everyone else who helped take care of us.

 We are super proud of our Hoden, he handled everything super well. By Thursday he was nursing like a champ, handling being only tylenol and pooping like a champ :) his Dr. gave us the go ahead to go home. We feel incredibly blessed and hope everything continues to go well. Peace out colostomy bags :) bring on a insane amount of poopy diapers.
